Relive the
great matches
The matches people still talk about: what happened, the moments, and where you can legally watch them today. Where no official full replay exists, we say so.
Each classic is retold from the match record: the scoreboard, how the game turned, and the moments people remember, with every fact linked to its source at the foot of the page. Then comes the part other retellings skip: what you can actually watch now, and where. We only link official uploads, from the ICC, the boards or the rights holders, and we check each link and date it. Many famous matches were never released in full; when that is the case the page says so plainly instead of pointing you to a pirated copy. Some pages also carry a short Bails animation of the key moment, made by us, not taken from broadcast footage.
The classics, oldest first
- 1983 World Cup Final, India vs West Indies at Lord’s: Relive It, and Where to Watch
West Indies had won both World Cups so far and were in their third straight final. India had never reached one, and started the day at odds of 66–1. By evening they were world champions.
- Azharuddin’s 109 off 77 vs South Africa, Kolkata 1996: Relive the Knock, and What You Can Read
India lost this Test by 329 runs. Few remember it for that. They remember Mohammad Azharuddin making 109 off 77 balls, and the over in which he hit a debutant called Lance Klusener for five fours in a row.
- Kolkata 2001, India vs Australia at Eden Gardens: Relive the Follow-On Miracle
Australia arrived having won a record 16 Tests in a row. India were made to follow on 274 behind. Five days later India had won by 171 runs, only the third time a team had won a Test after following on.
- 2007 T20 World Cup Final, India vs Pakistan in Johannesburg: Relive It, and Where to Watch
The first T20 World Cup final, between India and Pakistan, came down to the last over. It ended with Misbah-ul-Haq’s scoop and Sreesanth’s catch at short fine leg.
- 2011 World Cup Final, India vs Sri Lanka at the Wankhede: Relive It, and Where to Watch
Twenty-eight years after Lord’s, India won the World Cup again, at home, in front of about 33,000 at the Wankhede. No host nation had ever won the final on its own ground.
- 2019 World Cup Final, England vs New Zealand at Lord’s: Relive the Super Over, and Where to Watch
A tie after 100 overs, a tie in the Super Over, and a World Cup decided by boundaries hit: 26 to 17. It was the first ODI ever settled by a Super Over, and the only World Cup final decided on boundary count.
