History and famous moments

On 12 March 2006 South Africa chased Australia’s world-record 434 here.
It hosted the finals of the 2003 World Cup and the 2007 T20 World Cup.
On 18 January 2015 AB de Villiers made the fastest ODI fifty (16 balls) and the fastest ODI century here against West Indies.
The 2027 World Cup final is scheduled here.
New 65-metre floodlight masts went up in 1996, bringing day-night one-day cricket to the ground.
It hosted the 2009 IPL final, won by the Deccan Chargers against Royal Challengers Bangalore, and the Champions League Twenty20 finals of 2010 and 2012.
AB de Villiers finished on 149 off 44 balls in his record-breaking 2015 innings, and in February 2016 he hit South Africa’s fastest T20I fifty here (21 balls) against England.
