- The first Test here, in January 1930, was a draw between West Indies and England.
- West Indies have won 21 of the 43 Tests played at the ground.
- Adam Gilchrist’s 149 in the 2007 World Cup final here is the highest score in a World Cup final.
- The first international match here was in 1895, when Slade Lucas’ side visited Barbados.
- The stands were rebuilt for the 2007 World Cup at a cost of about US$45 million.
- The 2007 World Cup final, Australia against Sri Lanka, drew 20,108; its last three overs were bowled in near darkness and Australia won by 53 runs by the Duckworth–Lewis method.
