The ground closed for 18 months while its concrete surface was replaced with ten turf strips to meet ICC standards; it reopened in January 2022 with the Nigeria Invitational Women’s T20I Tournament. Its first men’s T20 International was Nigeria v Rwanda on 4 October 2023.
